In this post, let us dig deeper into some of the most unique and incredible things a tourist can do in Berlin. Whether it’s in quirky stores which sell things that you cannot find in the usual mall or districts that are a little off the beaten track, read on for the true gems of this incredible city.

The Street Art Haven: East Side Gallery

Despite being slightly off the tourist map, the East Side Gallery, positioned on the river Spree, will enchant every fan of street art. It is the last checkpoint of the original Berlin Wall and today it is an open air art gallery. Contemporary paintings from artists of different parts of the world are the masterpieces that decorate this historical place. The 30 large-scale installations that run through the picturesque outdoor landscape are worth contemplating in this exhibit space.

Tips:

Don’t forget your camera! The East Side Gallery has multitudes of places good enough for Instagram.

Be sure to visit during the morning as seeing the art work may be hampered by the numerous people who flock the place.

Historical Charm: Viktoria Park

Viktoria Park is an upcoming park with low profile in one of the famous Berlin’s district called Kreuzberg. A few hundred meters further towards northwest you will be able to reach a hill top on which there is a splendid waterfall gushing down behind tall trees. This park has excellent views over the whole city, making it a good place for a picnic, and relaxation. Important things, which should be mentioned only: take a blanket and some food with you if you’re going to have a rest at sunny day.

Tips:

It is recommended to put on comfortable shoes because there is zigzag steps that one has to take to get to this place on top of the hill.

Take along a book, a magazine, or some food and enjoy your time in the park doing nothing else ventured throughout the day but just relaxing.

A Shopper’s Paradise: Hackescher Markt

The latter is especially known for shopping in individual shops, as for example, it is the Hackescher Markt in Berlin. It is a small area defined by the tight network of streets lined with numerous trendy clothing outlets, antique and second-hand shops, and art shops. Walking though the courtyards, discovering something new and exactly locating some of Berlin’s best coffee shops and feeling the atmosphere of Hackescher Markt.

Tips:

In a stroll you can vist the Hackesche Höfe, an enchanting array of well crafted courtyards with shops and cafes.

Ampelmann Shop is a must visit souvenir shop that sells merchandise with image of East German traffic light man.

Serene Oasis: Britzer Garten

Get out of the city rush and get to Britzer Garten which is located in one of the city’s municipality of Berlin’s southern part. This vasts park offer beautiful gardens, quiet lakes and respectively recreational paths for walk. Depending on whether one requires a peaceful place to wander quietly or a place that can be jogged, Britzer Garten is designed with natural beauty.

Tips:

One should also hire a row boat to take a wonderful ride in this park’s beautiful lake.

Exploring Offbeat Neighborhoods: Neukölln

The domicile of chapati’ is in Neukölln an unpretentious district of Berlin that is not exactly a ‘must see’ on tourist maps. On the whole, this district seems to have post-industrial bohemian appeal, or perhaps a multicultural style. Visit Tempelhofer Feld, former airport territory that is now a park or enjoy diverse shopping and coffee at Weserstraße. This’s one of the areas where the tourists can see the creative and bohemian part of Berlin.

Tips:

Go to the Thai Park on the weekend for the best of Thai food in the form of vendor foods.

It is advisable to go away from the main tourist attraction areas to find good bars and beautiful street art.
