The Bode Museum: A Treasure Trove of Art and History in Berlin

Not only does it nestle on the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Museum Island, the Bode Museum is a true gem of Berlin, Germany. A wonderful and very rich institution with museum in which it collections so much art and historical artifacts of different historical time that will take you on a journey. The History of the Bode Museum

Named as the Bode Museum, this building was built from 1897 to 1904 and was originally named the Kaiser Friedrich Museum. Architect Ernst von Ihne put together a Neo-Baroque design which, thanks to its grand ideas, fits beautifully with the artifacts they contain. It became the Bode Museum in 1956, naming it after its first director, famous art historian Wilhelm von Bode.

The museum was badly damaged during World War II, but it was restored and re-opened in 1956. Ever since it has been renovated several times in order to maintain its valuable collections.
